People use the park for many and various reasons. Each has its importance and needs consideration but there are a few aspects which need to be addressed.
The dumping of waste (human) food is dangerous for waterfowl and also attracts rats in numbers which can get out of proportion to the balance of wildlife species. It may seem that it is helping to support the wildlife but this is a misunderstanding. As the food rots, it can cause botulism especially if it enters the water and decays on the lake bed. To feed the birds healthily, use seeds, cut-up green vegetables and small amounts of bread.
The problem of litter also affects the general enjoyment of the park and is a constant issue. Please take home your litter or use one of the many litter-bins around the park.
